Our disease-free buffalo project consists of only East African and Cape buffalo. We made the decision not to include Kruger buffalo into our herd as we are still new to the breeding process and want to limit our risks as far as possible, as they say a buffalo is as clean as his last test.
In East African buffalo horn spread is often better than other breeds. Therefore, to breed a superior buffalo, the selection of the cows as well as the breeding bull is very important. We based our selection on genetics and the full profile of the buffalo rather than just the horn length. We will select our top, middle and lower breeding herds from our current herd in 5 years.
